World War 1 Tommy, The Elland War Memorial, Bronze, B108

World War I Soldier or 'Tommy'. Based on the War Memorial in the Northern English town of Elland, this figurine captures the very essence of serving on the Werstrn Front during World War 1. The Soldier, who could be British, Canadian, Australian, South African or from New Zealand is typical of the war from 1915 (when steel helmets were issued) until the end of the war in 1918.

The Sculpture is scaled at 8 inches tall and therefore stands on his base at 9 inches. There is room on the front of the wooden base to have an engraved plate fitted which may be an ideal way to commemorate the live of a familt members who served, or gave their life, in the Great War.
