Product Description

Due to the scale of the conflict, the ability to communicate over large distances became paramount during WW1. The battlefield radio had not yet been developed, and surface or buried 'Communication Cable' provided a basic system of communications from unit to unit. In this design we capture a Royal Engineer sapper (Signals Detachment) laying communication cable by horse. Vast amounts of cable were laid, blown up, and then re-laid. It took great courage to work laying and repairing line whilst being fully exposed to enemy fire.
