Product Description
This beautiful statuette depicts a 'Jock' of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders on the Western Front during the winter of 1914 - 15.
He wears the standard issue battledress of the time with a Balmoral bonnet on his head. Later in the war all soldiers were issued with steel helmets. He also wears the newly issued goatskin body warmer which were specially ordered for soldiers in the trenches.
This sculpture is based on the beautiful bronze War Memorial which stands outside Dornoch, a seaside village in the very North East of Scotland. The memorial looks South and is a reminder of the young men who left the village, never to return.
